Mazunte
In South Mexico’s Oaxaca region, you’ll experience mountaintop living at Casa Chicatana in the seaside town of Mazunte. With a chef who specialises in traditional cooking and the ability to create tailored menus, your needs are catered for, leaving you to explore the private beach access, lounge and take in the stunning surroundings as the sun sets in solitude. Similar to being offset into the Mexican hills, Casa La Distancia’s main objectives nod to sustainability. A collaborative effort in solar panels and rainwater collecting, the off-grid abode is powered by nature itself. La Distancia is an optimus retreat for disconnecting and escapism.

Careyes
On the West of mainland Mexico, consider the reserve of Careyes – a European feel to a Latin-American destination. If you’re in the market for a peaceful villa in a secluded setting, Casa Luz (Casita MX) designed by Argentinian architect, Luis Laplace, would be our first choice. The mid-century modern interiors and open-plan layout overlook the Pacific Ocean with sights that capture stillness and tranquillity from the cliff edge. The exclusivity of El Careyes Club offers a range of residential properties sunken into the neighbouring palm trees with shared heated infinity pools and a concierge service, giving you a little more interaction with other dwellers.

Todos Santos
The south of the Baja Peninsula is home to Todos Santos; the holy grail for a desert wedding. A short drive out of the centre, you’ll reach the award-winning brutalism of Paradero blended sophisticatedly into the rocky landscape with interiors housing authentic homeware made by Mexico’s finest artisans. Once there, there’s no reason to leave. On-site, you can hike, bike, surf or enjoy sound healing and ancient rituals at the Ojo de Aqua spa. Hotel San Cristobal graces the coastline with whitewashed exterior walls. A smaller venue but with just as much character and the added amenity of a chapel, providing a quaint backdrop for your special occasion.

Bacalar
Venturing East, in Quintana Roo, Bacalar is a lesser-known, serene alternative to the popular tourist spot of Tulum. A must-visit is the Lagoon, the second largest in the country, full of fresh, crystal-like lake water where Our Habitas, a holistic wellness resort, is situated rurally. With a cultural programme featuring live musicians and plenty of space for ceremonies, it’s ideal for those who are aligned with their environmentally conscious ethos. Designed by renowned Mexican architect, Frida Escobedo, Boca de Agua is known for its regenerative innovation which sees guests sleep in treehouses, the use of renewable energy and chefs preparing plates compiled with local ingredients.

Mulege
Mulegé is a scenic car ride away from one of the most picturesque beaches in Mexico; Playa el Requeson. As you envelop the Bahía Concepción Bay, it is one breathtaking, panoramic view after another and easily accessible to the glistening seafront. In need of a concealed area for newlywed photography? This could be the place. Back in Mulegé, there is a rich history centred on religion. The grounds of the Mission Santa Rosalía is up-kept beautifully. Lined with native cacti, the building is covered from floor to ceiling in stone and filled with wooden pews. Don’t forget to make a trip to the observation deck which allows your eyes to skim over the palm trees for miles.
