How Gine Margrethe Achieved Her Best Complexion at 36

Founder of beauty label Bob, the Norwegian Gine Margrethe, shares her approach to glowing skin (also with a wedding approaching) and building a brand and a life with her partner of over a decade.

It’s the height of summer, yet from the cool stillness of her Oslo home, Gine Margrethe appears impossibly radiant. A thick sandy blonde bob skims high cheekbones, her complexion dewy and near poreless, crystal-blue eyes catching the Nordic light with ease. In a crisp shirt, she leans in. Candid, present. Here to speak of personalized beauty. What began as a personal search for skincare that truly worked became a meticulous process and, eventually, her own beauty brand. “It’s not about chasing trends,” she explains. “It’s about understanding what your skin really needs, and building from there.”

If you’re keen to learn more about being a female entrepreneur, Gine Margrethe’s beauty philosophy (also for brides) and treasured skincare habits for the most radiant complexion, read on.

Better Skin with Age

“I haven’t always had this skin,” she says. “I used to really struggle. It’s been years of testing, learning, researching.” At 36, there’s a quiet confidence in the routines she has shaped. This same research-led intuition now forms the foundation of her venture, Bob Beauté, a brand built on precision, ingredient knowledge, and the belief that beauty should be deeply personal. “You know, it’s so easy these days to get a product formulation in the next day, but that’s not what I want. I want to really take my time to see what truly works and adds value. I’m in meetings with chemists every other week, and next week I’ll be in one of our labs in Europe. I travel constantly to test, to tweak, to learn.”

Timeless Bridal Beauty

Having worked for years as a stylist and content creator in the beauty industry, Gine Margrethe had seen it all: the launch cycles, the trend overload, the relentless push for more. “I just felt suffocated by it all,” she admits. “I didn’t want to bake and cake and set and over-layer anymore. I wanted products that are thoughtful, effective, and effortless.” The same goes for her approach to bridal beauty. “I honestly think the most beautiful brides are the ones who go lighter on makeup,” she says. “Especially in summer. Just fresh, natural skin. You’ll thank yourself in 15 years when you look back at your photos.” Her philosophy is grounded in restraint. “The more powder you put on, the more your skin will crackle. It’s overload. Less is more, but used cleverly. It’s about light and shadow, not layers.”

Gine Margrethe, who did her own makeup and her bridesmaids’ on her wedding day, believes in empowering women to trust what suits them. “You know what makes you feel confident. Why would you hand that over?” Her advice is quietly radical: embrace your own features, do not overcorrect, and skip the false lashes. “They always look fake, and we can see they’re fake. If your lashes are short, embrace that. Your eyes will glow more.” In her world, true bridal beauty lies in celebrating what is already there, with intention rather than excess.

Bob Beauté

Why Bob? The name itself feels like a character, part old-Hollywood charm, part modern clarity. “Bob is a lover you never quite get to know,” Gine Margrethe says. “He’s mystery. He’s control. He is that masculine, clear-headed energy. Bob thinks like a man, in a way. That masculine energy of owning yourself without overthinking or overdoing it, even in how you look.” That balance of power and grace runs through everything she creates. “I’ll spend four years perfecting a foundation if I have to. I’m not interested in slapping my name on something that isn’t best in class.” This summer, she launched a new lip liner. A pinkish nude this writer has tested and quietly adopted as a daily staple. Another recommendation: the face mist.

Building A Brand Together

She doesn’t do it alone. Gine Margrethe has been with her husband, Thomas, for over a decade, and today they run the company together. He’s a photographer, and their paths have long intertwined creatively. “We’ve been working on and off for fifteen years,” she says. “But it’s only in the last year and a half that we’ve made it official. He now co-owns the business with me, fifty-fifty.”

Their lives are closely knit. Mornings begin with the school run. They commute to the office together, spend the day immersed in product, photography, logistics, and decisions, then return home to cook dinner and put the children to bed. Together. “People ask how we don’t go mad,” she smiles. “But we still have fun. We’ve just had to learn where the boundaries are. At work, we’re colleagues. At home, we have to protect the boyfriend-girlfriend energy.

It is a dynamic built on balance. “He’s the thinker, I’m the executor.” She laughs: “So I’ve had to learn to let go of always needing to decide everything.” When asked about their wedding, she pauses only briefly. “Maybe a smaller guest list. Maybe I would have done it in Italy instead of Sweden. But honestly, I just wanted to marry the man.”

The simplicity in that sentence echoes everything she stands for. Focus on what matters. Look inward, not outward. Do less, beautifully.

Her Beauty Tips For Brides

Now, she’s the radiant face of the beauty brand they’re building (her skin, her routine, her point of view) anchoring everything in lived experience rather than industry gloss.

Gine Margherite’s Glow: The Real Routine

When it comes to that famously flawless skin? Here’s how she does it:

Morning

  1. Gentle Cleanse: “I always wash my face in the morning to remove actives from the night.”
  2. Niacinamide: “A high-percentage cream from Face Formula for pore-tightening and glow. It can be used as a serum, but I use it as my cream. I prefer not to have too much product on my skin.”
  3. SPF: “Even on a cloudy day!”
  4. The base: “A skin-boosting foundation by Shiseido with niacinamide for that glassy finish. Followed up by Bob Beauté’s The Corrector. This is what I usually wear for a quick fix. I travel every week or every other week, and on early flights The Correctors are a true gem, a lifesaver for touch-ups on the go. Then The Lipliner: a groundbreaking formula with both playtime and set time. It’s so easy and safe to use as eyeliner too, and it stays on forever if applied to clean skin. Truly amazing. Believe me, I’ve tried them all. Lastly, The Face Mist: My own formulation with antibacterial and calming ingredients, it’s my holy grail.”

Evening

  1. Double Cleanse: “The first, Face Foam Cleanser by Face Formula, removes makeup. The second actually cleanses. Then I switch it up with Sisley’s Buff and Wash Facial Gel three times a week.”
  2. Low-Dose Retinol Serum: “The Retinol + Blemish Complex by Zein Obagi. Targets blemishes gently.”
  3. Topper for retinol: “ Different Cica Metal Quick Soothing Cream. It has a fantastic soothing effect and helps repair the skin barrier almost instantly. A year-round essential, especially at night after sun exposure or retinoids.”
  4. An exfoliant one or two times a week: “This Exfoliating Polish.”
  5. Vitamin C: “The Dr. Different CEQ Anti-Oxidant Serum. Ionly use it at night, or during the day under SPF if I’m going out in the sun. Dr. Different is an incredible brand with smart formulations at a really good price point.”
  6. Peptide Cream: “Think of it like adding egg to dough. It binds and seals.”
  7. Eye Cream: “Non-negotiable.”

Skincare Philosophy

  • Switch it up every few months. “Your skin gets lazy. Confuse it a little.”
  • Less is more. “You don’t need 20 products. Just know why you’re using something.”
  • Beware the wedding-day overload. “No last-minute facials. No heavy lashes. Be you, but polished.”
